EMERGENCY

What do I do if my brace is broken?

Removable braces: Keep the broken pieces and contact the surgery. Make an appointment to have the appliances repaired - always bring the pieces.

Fixed braces: If there is anything sharp, firstly try to move this with you fingers to make it comfortable. If this is not possible, apply the wax to the dried brace and 'mould' it over the broken piece. If the wax does not stay on, then use the 'Brace-Eze'. This is a putty which can be moulded over any sharp areas. It sets to a 'rubber' and is very useful if there is a problem area, which the wax will not adhere to.

Always contact the surgery during working hours to arrange for the brace to be repaired. Out of normal working hours, there will be telephone message with emergency contact numbers.

Always get broken braces repaired as soon as possible to avoid a delay in the completion of your treatment.
