FIXED BRACES

These braces fix onto the surfaces of the teeth. Unlike removable braces, they are capable of complete control of the teeth allowing the Orthodontist to deliver incredible results.

Modern fixed appliances bear little resemblance to those used even five years ago. They are precision engineered to allowed precise movements of the teeth. There are basically two components to the fixed brace:

  • The bracket — which is bonded to each tooth
  • The archwire — which runs between the brackets and allows the orthodontist to move the teeth
Fixed braces come in several types:
  • Conventional — also known as train tracks. Usually metal
  • Ceramic — better looking than metal fixed appliances. The bracket is made of a tooth coloured material
  • Self-ligating — state of the art fixed braces. Metal or tooth coloured. They have many advantages over conventional braces
  • Lingual — the fixed brace is fitted behind the teeth for complete discretion
